Onyx
belongs to the family of marble. It is distinctive for its beautiful
colours and shades. The colours ranges from light-green, jade green,
copper brown. Within each colour, they are varying effects of
different shades through veins. Onyx has a unique quality that light
passes through it. The reserves are a natural gift to the
Balochistan Province of Pakistan.
The
technique of inlaying the delicately cut and shaped multi coloured
Sea Shells in to the onyx crafts in floral or geometrical designs
and patterns has historical linkages with centuries old art of
inlaying techniques.
A
variety of beautiful crafts of style are produced in onyx such as
vases, flower pots, table lamps, bowls, plates, jars, pen stands,
birds and animal figures, ash trays and candle stands etc. etc.
